Dr Adcock’s main interests lie in the area of regulation of airway inflammation in asthma and COPD by glucocorticoids. This involves a translational approach involving a range of cell and molecular techniques in cell lines and primary cells through animal models of disease into clinical studies. Dr Adcock has had a long-term interest in why glucocorticoids are ineffective in many patients with severe asthma and in patients with COPD. More recently, this work has expanded into studying how epigenetic modifications can affect glucocorticoid function and asthma susceptibility.
