Leukocyte trafficking, chronic inflammation and airway structure

Allergic individuals develop inflammatory reactions at the site of exposure to allergens. The inflammation is manifest as dilation of small blood vessels resulting in increased local blood flow, leakage of plasma causing tissue swelling, and the accumulation of specific types of white blood cells. We are particularly interested in the mechanisms underlying the recruitment of these leukocytes and their influence on the affected tissues.
