What is the YLS?

The Young Life Scientists' Symposium is a unique one-day event organised by young scientists for young scientists.

Supported by the Biochemical Society, the Physiological Society and the British Pharmacological Society, YLS 2010 aimed to give scientists at the beginning of their careers the chance to present their work, discuss their research and meet others from a variety of disciplines within the field of asthma and allergies, as well as offering the chance to win talk and poster prizes!

This year a group from The MRC and Asthma UK Centre for Allergic Mechanisms in Asthma, based at King's and Imperial Colleges and Queen Mary's Medical School, organised a symposium on 'The Next Generation Of Asthma & Allergy Research'. The event took place in the Keyworth Conference Centre at the South Bank University on the 26th of May and had around 120 young delegates attend.

The day consisted of Keynote speakers, talks from young scientists conducting the most exciting research, and workshops on alternative aspects of science.

Funding and support was provided by the Societies as well as industrial sponsors.
